Simodi Emeralds began its journey in 1988 with early prospecting for emeralds and other Gemstones in Somaliland. From 1993 onward, the company focused on locating the primary vein of emerald deposits, uncovering approximately 2,000 kilograms of emeralds over three decades. Through continuous exploration, Simodi identified its current mining area as the central source of this vein, marking a significant milestone in its geological efforts. Today, the company remains deeply rooted in Somaliland’s emerald heritage while supplying premium gemstones to global markets.
Siimoodi’s involvement in the emerald industry began in 1988 with prospecting for emeralds and other minerals. Between 1993 and 2025, Siimoodi uncovered a substantial array of emeralds and other gemstones, extracting approximately 2,000 kilograms of emeralds.
Since 1993, Siimoodi has been focused on locating the primary vein of the emerald deposit, continuously exploring new areas believed to contain richer deposits. Siimoodi now believes that the area currently being mined represents the main source of this vein.
