The mining area is in a remote region with rugged terrain and limited access. Recognizing the necessity for improved accessibility both in the short and long term, Siimoodi invested in the construction of an extensive road network, which was completed in 2022 at a cost of approximately $2 million.
This infrastructure now provides direct access to and from the mining site, connecting all prospecting and operational areas within the region. The improved accessibility has significantly enhanced logistical efficiency, streamlining Siimoodi’s ongoing and future mining operations.
The road was inaugurated in September 2021 by his Excellency Mr Jama Mahamoud Egal, the former minister of minerals and energy of Somaliland
